Season 13: Lord of Hatred (launched April 28, 2026, Patch 3.0.1) is the biggest shakeup Diablo IV has ever seen. The expansion adds two brand-new classes (Paladin and Warlock), a new region (Skovos), level cap increase to 70, the Horadric Cube crafting system, Talisman itemization, War Plans endgame activities, and a complete skill tree rework across all classes. The meta is still settling after early hotfixes (April 29, May 1-2) that nerfed Sorcerer Blizzard and adjusted Druid/Rogue interactions. Source: Blizzard patch notes, Icy Veins, Blizzard Watch

S-Tier: Warlock

Best Builds: Dread Claws, Summoner, Hell Fracture

Blizzard intentionally launched Warlock strong to encourage players to explore the new class. The Dread Claws build uses shadow damage with Summon Laalish for double-cast mechanics, Nether Step for mobility, and Dread Claws as the main DPS ability. Resource management (Wrath, Shadowform, Dominance) requires attention — not a simple one-button class, but the payoff is the highest damage ceiling in the game. The Summoner variant trades some single-target burst for powerful AoE from demon summons. Source: Mobalytics, Fragster, Game8

S-Tier: Paladin

Best Builds: Wing Strike (Arbiter), Hammerdin, Holy Light Auradin

The Paladin returns as a fan-favorite "sword and board" holy warrior. The Wing Strike Arbiter build achieves permanent Arbiter uptime through kill-based cooldown resets, making it the top pick for high-end Pit pushing — but it demands high mechanical skill. Hammerdin is the versatile progression build using the Light's Epiphany set, excellent for both leveling and endgame. The Holy Light Auradin offers strong passive AoE damage through auras, ideal for relaxed farming. Source: Mobalytics, Game8, Nerdschalk

A-Tier: Barbarian and Necromancer

Barbarian — Whirlwind Dust Devil

The most consistent endgame Barb build. Whirlwind Dust Devil offers multiplicative scaling with near-constant spin uptime and low mechanical overhead. Rend is a solid alternative for single-target. HoTA (Hammer of the Ancients) remains a viable boss-killer. Self-sufficient, tanky, and excellent for solo play. Source: Odealo, Game8

Necromancer — Pure Golem Summoner

The best beginner-friendly build in Season 13. Concentrated Golem scaling provides strong passive survivability and low mechanical complexity. The Blood Wave variant uses Kessime's Legacy pants for screen-clearing damage. Perfect for players who want a relaxed playstyle. Source: Mobalytics, PlayerAuctions

B-Tier: Sorcerer and Druid

Sorcerer — Static Field Blizzard

Blizzard was nerfed in the April 29 hotfix (it was scaling "far more than intended"), dropping Sorcerer from potential S-tier to solid B. Still viable with Static Field and Hydra variants. Source: Blizzard hotfix notes, Game8

Druid — Companion / Lightning Storm

Lightning Storm was also adjusted in the hotfix. Companion build offers consistent damage, while Lacerate Rabies provides a DoT-focused alternative. Still playable but outclassed by the new classes. Source: Blizzard hotfix notes

C-Tier: Rogue and Spiritborn

Rogue — Dance of Knives

Rogue is the speed-farming specialist in Season 13. Dance of Knives with Grenade Jumper + Freeze synergies offers full-screen CC and explosive burst. Excellent for Helltides and Whispers, but significantly weaker in Pit pushing compared to S and A tier classes. Source: Odealo, PlayerAuctions

Spiritborn — Crushing Hand / Rake

Spiritborn was S-tier in Season 12 but has fallen to C-tier in Lord of Hatred. The new classes (Warlock, Paladin) and class rebalancing have left Spiritborn outclassed. Still functional for casual content. Source: Game8

How to Choose Your Build

  • Best for Pit pushing: Paladin Wing Strike Arbiter or Warlock Dread Claws
  • Best for beginners: Necromancer Pure Golem Summoner (lowest mechanical complexity)
  • Best for solo players: Barbarian Whirlwind Dust Devil (self-sufficient, tanky)
  • Best for speed farming: Rogue Dance of Knives
  • Best boss damage: Warlock Dread Claws
  • Best for relaxed play: Necromancer Summoner or Paladin Holy Light Auradin
Note: The Season 13 meta is less stable than usual due to two new classes and early balance patches. We'll update this tier list as the meta evolves.
